About IELTS
IELTS or International English Language Testing System is another major English language test accepted worldwide for higher education and as well as global migration, just like TOEFL. Designed and administered jointly by the Cambridge English Language Assessment and British Council, it examines the candidates’ proficiency of the 4 different types of English language skills – Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening. IELTS has two formats – IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Candidates can opt for either based on the university requirements. There is no minimum score for IELTS, and the test is valid for 2 years. The countries that accept the IELTS score include the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
There are no such minimum eligibility criteria to appear for the IELTS exam. However, people seeking higher education in English-speaking countries and to gain global exposure need to get assessed on their English proficiency. However, a candidate needs to be 16 years of age minimum to appear for IELTS.
Who can appear for IELTS?
Students pursuing higher education in countries whose native language is English and where the Universities use the language as the basic medium of teaching.
What is the Age limit?
There is no age limit for IELTS but the minimum age limit for the exam is 16 years. Students who are younger than 16 years are not eligible to sit for the exam.
What Education Qualification is Required?
There is no minimum educational qualification required to appear for IELTS.
Registration & Exam Fee
- IELTS exams are held 48 times a year and a candidate can appear for any of the exams in those 48 times.
- There is no limit to giving IELTS tests. Students can take the retests as many times as they want.
- IELTS is of two types- Computer-based exams & Paper-based exams.
- The IELTS exam fee for each time is Rs 14,700.

- Reading

- Writing
- Speaking
