About SAT
Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT is the commonly accepted standardized test required for USA college admission. Candidates from standards 11 and 12 take this Scholastic Assessment test for the college application procedures. It tests all the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics of the students. The scores of SAT enable colleges to compare the students from different high schools and further proceed with the admission process. However, the SAT scores are just one of the parts of college application along with the grades and recommendations. SAT was developed and owned by the College Board of USA but administered by ETS. The countries that accept SAT scores include the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, Singapore, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Singapore.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The College Board conducting the SAT exam has not laid any kind of eligibility criteria to take the exam. However, candidates aspiring to pursue overseas education for undergraduate programs should sit for the exams to qualify for higher education. As a matter of fact, students appearing for SAT to pursue undergraduate courses abroad should successfully pass grade 12.
Who can appear for the SAT?
Students seeking admission to undergraduate programs in colleges and universities abroad can appear for the SAT.
What is the Age limit?
- There is no minimum age limit to appear for the SAT.
- However, a maximum number of candidates from high school of age 17-18 years mostly attend SAT.
What Education Qualification is Required?
Students appearing for SAT aims to opt for undergraduate or bachelor courses and hence, they should be at least 12th passed out.
Registration & Exam Fee
- Most of the universities abroad require SAT scores so as to assess the student’s profiles.
- SAT registration can be done online through a website or in mail.
- The registration fee for SAT is $104 without essay and $117 with essay.
SAT Syllabus
SAT exams are of 2 types:
- SAT General Exam: It assesses the written, verbal and mathematical skills of the aspiring candidates.
- SAT Subject Exam: It assesses the Subject knowledge of the candidates. The 5 subjects that it covers include, English, Science, Mathematics, History and Languages.
